The Government of Andhra Pradesh launched the YSR housing scheme on June 3, 2021. Also known as the YSR Jagananna Housing Scheme, this scheme is a move by the AP Government to provide housing for the poor. It is implemented by Andhra Pradesh State Housing Corporation Limited and under this scheme, the Government is expected to spend Rs. 28,000 crores for the construction of about 15.6 lakh houses.
Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh YS Jagan Mohan Reddy launched this scheme on June 3 2021. It’s informally also known as Jagan Housing Scheme after the CM of AP inaugurated this project. A total of 30 lakh houses will be built over two phases. Phase 1 includes the construction of 15.6 lakh houses with an investment of Rs. 28,000 crore. This phase is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2022.
After that, the second phase of the project will commence, which will require the construction of more than 12 lakh houses at an investment of more than Rs. 22,000 crores. An interesting fact about this project is that the government will issue all property deeds under the name of women’s family members.
PMAY-YSR Urban Housing Scheme is a joint initiative of the Central Government and the Government of Andhra Pradesh. This aims to provide permanent houses to people living in urban areas of Andhra Pradesh. The governments will focus on urban poor, middle and lower-income level people while constructing and distributing houses under this project. Central Government has sanctioned a sum of Rs. 5,000 crore and State Government has also committed a sum of Rs. 1,000 crore.
This is a collaboration between Central Government and the State Government to build houses in rural areas. Under this, the land is given free of cost by the AP Government. The beneficiaries under this scheme can modify their units. They can also ask for monetary assistance of Rs. 1.8 lakh to take up construction on their own.
