Your PAN card is extremely important for practically all high-value transactions and tax filing in India. PAN is basically a 10-digit unique identification alphanumeric number that’s assigned to Indian taxpayers and is also required if you are purchasing a vehicle, starting a new job, etc. But what happens if you misplace or lose your PAN card? Don’t worry, you can download your PAN card online from portals like NSDL and UTIITSL.
In this blog, we have laid out step-by-step process on how to download an e-PAN card online.
Those who have applied for a new PAN from NSDL (National Securities Depository Limited) can get an e-PAN card from the same site. The following is a step-by-step guide to e-PAN card download from NSDL.
Visit the Tax Information Network website of the Income Tax Department and go to ‘Download e-PAN card.’
You can choose to download e-PAN by entering the acknowledgement number. Otherwise, you can click on ‘PAN’ to download e-PAN online. We will come to that later.
For the first option, enter the acknowledgement number. Enter your date of birth or date of incorporation/formation (in the case of PAN for non-individuals). Next, enter the CAPTCHA code and click on ‘Submit’.
For the second option, enter your PAN and Aadhaar number (for individual taxpayers). Then, select your month and year of birth (or incorporation), and enter GSTIN (optional). Click on the “I understand that my Aadhaar data shall be used for the purpose of e-PAN card…” checkbox.
Once done, enter the captcha and submit. Before submitting, it’s advised to re-check your PAN, Aadhaar and other details.
Unless your PAN has recently been allotted/changed within the past 30 days, you need to make payment for the e-PAN download. This is worth Rs. 8.26, which you can pay via UPI, credit card or debit card.
Now, you can download the password-secured PAN card PDF. The password would be your date of birth.
PAN card applicants can download their e-PAN card directly from UTIITSL (UTI Infrastructure Technology And Services Limited). This portal, too, allows only those with newly allotted/changed PAN to get three free downloads. After that, you will have to pay Rs. 8.26 for every e-PAN card download from UTIITSL.
Follow these steps to PAN card download through UTIITSL’s website.
The Income Tax Department also allows you to download an e-PAN card from its official website. This instant facility is meant for taxpayers who have an Aadhaar with a linked mobile number but no PAN card. It allows you to apply for e-PAN using Aadhaar e-KYC.
To apply for an instant e-PAN card, follow these steps:
Go to the e-filing portal homepage. Check the Quick Links section.
This is a pre-login service, so you do not need to register or log in. Click on ‘Instant E-PAN’ on the homepage. Among the given options, click on ‘Get New e-PAN’.
On the ‘Get New e-PAN’ page, fill in your Aadhaar number and click the ‘I confirm that’ checkbox. Next, click on ‘Continue’ to go to the OTP validation page.
Read through the terms and conditions. Then, click on the ‘I have read the consent terms and agree to proceed further’ checkbox and click ‘Continue’.
Enter the OTP that you received on your registered mobile number, select the next checkbox and click ‘Continue’. Go through the Aadhaar e-KYC data to see if it is correct
Click on the ‘I accept that’ checkbox and then ‘Continue’.
On successful submission, you will get a success message and an acknowledgement number on the screen. Copy this number for future reference.
You can also download a PAN Card with the help of your Aadhaar Number. The process is similar to downloading a PAN through the Income Tax department website.
Upon completion, you can download the e-PAN Card.
To download PAN Card online through PAN Number, you can follow the same process as the NSDL PAN card download process.
Upon completion, you can download an e-PAN card.
A duplicate PAN card is issued upon request during the loss or damage of the PAN card. In such cases, the PAN number doesn’t change, just a new card is issued. Here’s how you can download a duplicate PAN card online:
Go to the Request for Reprint of PAN Card page by clicking on this URL: https://www.onlineservices.nsdl.com/paam/ReprintEPan.html
Provide Aadhaar, PAN, Date of Birth and GSTIN (optional) details.
Tick the “I understand that my Aadhaar data shall be used for the purpose of Reprint of card…” checkbox, enter the captcha and hit “Submit”. Note that if the captcha code is not clear, you can refresh the page by clicking on the refresh circular arrow icon to get a new captcha.
