Indian residents have to pay a fee of Rs.110, which includes a processing fee of Rs.93 and 18% GST. Earlier, the Government of India found some discrepancies in the system regarding the fees and charges. That is why, it was decided that a uniform fee will be imposed on all the applicants having a communication address within the country.
Even though anyone can apply for a PAN card, individuals belonging to the income-earning profile are on high priority to get this document. Taxpayers possessing a PAN card can easily avail several subsidies provided by the Government of India.
In this regard, one must know that the new PAN card fees might vary depending on the mode of payment one goes for.
Cardholders might find themselves in a position where certain changes are required in their existing PAN card. In such a scenario, an individual having a communication address within the country has to pay a fee of Rs.50 (inclusive of taxes) to get these changes done.
Individuals residing outside India and looking to carry out transactions in the country must possess a PAN card. To apply for that, they need to follow the same procedure; however, the PAN card fees will definitely vary. For individuals residing outside India, the fee for applying for a new PAN card is Rs.864 (excluding GST). Also, if they need to make changes to the PAN card, they have to pay Rs.959 (inclusive of taxes) for the same.
As per the announcement of the Tax Information Network of the Income Tax Department, with amendments to clause (C) of subsection (8) of Section 139A of Income Tax Act, 1961 and sub-rule (6) of Rule 114 of the Income Tax Rules, 1962, e-PAN is valid. However, only Indian residents other than minors and individuals covered under Section 160 of the ITA can avail it.

Visit the official site of the TIN-NSDL.

You will find the ‘PAN-New facilities’ option under ‘Quick Links’; click on it.

Next, you need to select ‘Download e-PAN/e-PAN XML (PANs allotted before 30 days)’ or ‘Download e-PAN/e-PAN XML (PANs allotted in last 30 days)’ from the drop-down.

Once you move on to the next page, in the PAN tab, you will have to enter your PAN number, date of birth, Aadhaar number, and GSTIN (if applicable). Alternatively, you can select the ‘Acknowledgement Number’ tab and enter the acknowledgement number and date of birth/incorporation.

Now, go through the terms and conditions and tick the box to proceed further.

Submit the CAPTCHA code to get a one-time password on your mobile number and email ID.

Enter that OTP to validate. After that, you will be able to download the PDF file of your e-PAN.
Note that individuals must have a valid Aadhaar number to avail this facility. Hindu Undivided Family (HUF), firms, trusts and companies cannot apply for e-PAN through any portal.
The payment mode to pay PAN card fees varies depending on whether the applicant is an Indian resident or not. Read on to know the details:
Applicants having a communication address within the country can pay the charges related to a PAN card through debit/credit cards, Net Banking, or Demand Drafts. Note that an additional charge of up to 2% will be imposed on individuals paying through debit/credit cards.
For Net Banking mode, one has to pay an extra surcharge of Rs.4 along with service tax. Also, keep in mind that the demand draft should be drawn in favour of “NSDL-PAN”, payable at Mumbai, to get accepted.
If you have a communication address outside India, you can still choose to pay through the above-mentioned payment modes. However, the banks might impose additional conversion or exchange charges for that, and the rest of the charges will remain the same.
There is a high possibility of the PAN application getting rejected if someone ends up providing inaccurate or incomplete information. Individuals need to adhere to the instructions mentioned by NSDL before furnishing the information in the form. In case one fails to do that, the application will be inevitably rejected, and he/she has to reapply for the PAN. However, they will not get a fee refund in such a scenario.
