Instant PAN facility is now made easy with Central Government’s Digital India programme that also has several other cost-effective facilities. Officially launched on 28th May 2020, this facility allows applicants to generate an e-PAN within a few minutes. According to the data derived from the Income Tax Department, 6.88 lakh requests were received for instant PAN up until May 2020.
The following has all the details regarding the instant PAN card online application procedure, eligibility criteria and more.
The sole purpose of launching this paperless, free-of-cost facility was to help individuals avoid standing in queues for hours to get their permanent account number (PAN). One can easily generate an e-PAN by quoting his/her 12-digit Aadhaar number and authenticate using the OTP sent to their phone number.
To avail this facility and get the document within 10 minutes, keep the following pointers in mind:
Moreover, note that you can only opt for this Aadhaar based facility when applying for a new PAN only. This means that in case you want to make corrections or any kind of changes in your existing PAN, it cannot be done using this feature.
Once you meet all the necessary parameters, here is how you can apply for PAN with an Aadhaar card:
Lastly, you will receive an acknowledgement number, which you can use to track your application status.
Using that 15-digit acknowledgement number, you can check your instant PAN card status by following these simple steps:
Upon successful PAN allocation, you will be provided with a link that you can use to download the e-PAN.
Keep in mind that the PDF file of your e-PAN will contain a QR code where all the demographic details, such as name, date of birth, etc., are available. To open the file and download it, you need to enter your date of birth (‘DDMMYYYY’ format) as the password.
So, if you are looking to open a bank account or planning to avail a business loan, generate an instant PAN card online without any hassle.
Ans: You must keep in mind that it is illegal for individuals or business entities to have more than one PAN. In case the IT Department catches the card holder, it may impose a penalty or take legal action.
Ans: The PAN application has to be validated by the one-time password sent to your registered number. In case you do not receive it, resubmit the Aadhaar e-KYC page. That said, if you find that the issue persists, get in touch with UIDAI.
Ans: No, keep in mind that if you are availing an e-PAN already, you cannot get any physical copy of it later. However, you can use this soft copy everywhere and meet all sorts of requirements.
Ans: No, the process of generating your e-PAN will be completely online. So, you will not have to visit any centre for in-person verification. However, make sure you are submitting your Aadhaar details properly to avoid any issue while generating the instant PAN card.
Ans: Once you provide all the necessary information during the application process, you will receive an OTP to validate the details. After submitting the OTP, you will receive an acknowledgement ID which indicates that the application process has been completed successfully.
