You can correct, update or change your Aadhaar details under two brackets — biometrics and demographics. Biometrics comprise photographs, iris scans and fingerprints. On the other hand, demographics include name, email, mobile number, gender, date of birth and address.
You can change your gender, date of birth, name and address online or by visiting a nearby Aadhaar Seva Kendra. If you want some other changes for your Aadhaar, then visiting an Aadhaar Seva Kendra is the only option.

Once an update request has been sent, you can check the status either offline or online. There are four online methods for checking the Aadhaar address update status. Let’s check them out.
If you have submitted a request at an Aadhaar update centre or an enrolment centre, you will require the EID (Enrolment ID) to track the status. EID has twenty-eight digits (a fourteen-digit enrolment number and a fourteen-digit date-time stamp). You can view this number in the upper part of your acknowledgement slip.
After tracing your EID, you can follow the below-mentioned steps:
If you don’t have the EID, you can track the status from the official portal of UIDAI using your registered email ID or mobile number. You can also find your Aadhaar number from this portal (in case you have misplaced your card or forgotten the number) by following the steps below:

You can also track your update request with your Unique Identity Number (UID) or Aadhaar number by following this process:
URN (Update Request Number) is a 14-digit number, which will be given to you after you complete the online address change procedure. Using it, you can track the update status in this way:
You will get an SRN (Service Request Number) after requesting for the Address Validation Letter. The method remains the same as that for URN. However, under the ‘Check Update Status’ option of ‘Aadhaar Service Desk’, you will be entering the ten-digit SRN along with a CAPTCHA code.
No need to worry if you don’t have an internet connection. You can track your update status using the toll-free number 1947. This is UIDAI’s number which makes use of the IVR system. You have to follow the below-mentioned steps to check your Aadhaar update status:
When you track using URN, enter your fourteen-digit URN, and you will get the status. If you check without using URN, you will have to call a UIDAI representative to know the update status.
For more information, you can contact help@uidai.gov.in or interact with a UIDAI executive.
