At the time of the availing of the Baal Aadhaar Card, biometrics of the child are not taken if the child is below the age of 5. After the 5th year, the Baal Aadhaar Card needs to be updated with the biometrics. The Baal Aadhaar Card is again updated with the biometrics after the child reaches the age of 15. The procedure for the enrolment of the Baal Aadhaar Cardfor the children below the age of 5 could be availed of both online and offline modes:
UIDAI is the official website for applying for an Aadhaar. For Baal Aadhaar too, you need to visit the website.
Under ‘My Aadhaar’, locate ‘Book an Appointment’ and click on it.
A new page will open. Under ‘Book an Appointment at UIDAI run Aadhaar Seva Kendra’, select your city/location from the dropdown. Then click on ‘Proceed to Book Appointment’
Enter your mobile number and Captcha. Click on ‘Generate OTP’. Enter the OTP to proceed to the next step.
Click on the appointment tab and book yourself the date and the time for the Aadhaar registration.
On the day of the appointment, visit the centre with all the documents required. Provide the reference number of the enrolment to confirm your appointment. Officials in charge will look into your registration. For the child below five years, only a photograph of the child is taken, and Baal Aadhaar Card is linked to the parent’s Aadhaar Card.
After all the formalities are done, you get the SMS on your phone with the confirmation of the registration with the registration number. This number aids you in tracking the status of your Aadhaar Card. Once the verification and other formalities are complete, the Baal Aadhaar Card is issued to the child.
You will get an acknowledgement slip from the enrolment centre confirming your registration of the Aadhaar card. The registration number will also be mentioned on the slip that you can use to track the status of your Aadhaar. After the verification is complete, you will receive a notification from the UIDAI about your Aadhaar Card.
If you have availed of Baal Aadhaar Card before the age of 5, you need to update the Aadhaar biometrics after completing 5 years. This time, biometrics of the child, including a fingerprint scan and an iris scan will also be taken along with the photograph. You might also need to provide the required document.
Follow the same process if you are availing the Baal Aadhaar Card for a child (or children) over 5 years of age for the first time. The biometrics of the child is also required at the time, along with the photograph.
