The Central Government introduced GPRA (General Pool Residential Accommodation) for the Central Government employees to avail of affordable housing. When an individual moves to a new city temporarily for his/her job, it is often hard for them to find an affordable accommodation. Moreover, depending on the city, the standard of lifestyle varies, and the cost of essentials varies. Therefore, finding a proper house in a new city that suits your financial capacity is quite troublesome. The GPRA solves this problem.
GPRA allows individuals to get placed in a pool of accommodations as per their eligibility and vacancies. If one is eligible for this scheme, he/she can apply for housing temporarily. Now that you know what GPRA is, you should also know about the eligibility before you apply.

Visit the official e-Sampada website.
Input log in ID request that you have received from e-Sampada. After receiving the log in ID, log in through a mobile number or email ID.
After logging in, fill in the DE-II form. Upon filling the applicant’s form and DE-II form, it will be verified online via e-Sampada by the concerned administration.
After the form is accepted, it will be listed on the following month’s waiting list for eligible types of accommodations. Once the accommodation allotment takes place, the eligible applicants will receive the allotments. Then, they will have to submit his/her acceptance letter within a span of 8 days.
Besides, one can also download e-Sampada mobile app available on the Play Store for individuals to use the estate directorate services. By downloading the app and registering to the portal, one can avail the necessary services under this scheme.

Here is the step-by-step guide on the allotment process of GPRA:
Step 1: To apply for this scheme, an applicant needs to be on the waiting list for a particular type of accommodation
Step 2: This unified waiting list comes with names of everyone who are applying for GPRA, along with individuals who are waiting for initial allotment and those who want to change their accommodations

GPRA helps Central Government employees get affordable accommodation in many cities across India. Check your eligibility and apply for it on the e-Sampada portal. Follow the steps as mentioned above. Ans: If you decide to surrender your allotted GPRA, you need to inform DoE at least 2 days prior before vacating the residence. Your allotment of residence will be cancelled from the 11th day after the letter is forwarded to the DoE or the date mentioned in your letter.
Ans: Once you have applied for an accommodation under GPRA, you need to wait for the allotment letter. However, you will only receive such a letter if you receive an allotment. In case you receive one, make sure to accept it within 8 days of getting the letter.
Ans: The service period that is the date from which a Government servant has been in service under Central or State Government (also including Indian Foreign Service officers), is the parameter for preparing a waiting list for Type I-IV accommodations.
