The Tamil Nadu Government launched the Chief Minister Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme (CMCHIS), also known as Amma Health Insurance, through the United India Insurance Company Ltd. The scheme aims to provide quality health care to all eligible individuals through various enlisted Government and private hospitals. The TN CM health insurance scheme aims to reduce the financial burden on the enlisted individuals and help them shift to universal health coverage linked to the public health system. CMCHIS covers all hospitalisation and medical expenses as mentioned at any of its network hospitals.

3. Follow-up treatment

CMCHIS offers a cashless facility, which means the beneficiary doesn’t have to pay the hospital bills in cash. However, to avail of cashless claim benefits, the member has to undergo treatment in one of the network hospitals.
However, you have to produce the Maruthuva Kapitu Thittam Card to the hospital for cashless settlement. This card is usually handed to the beneficiary at the time of enrolment. Upon verifying the card, the information is then relayed to the TPA or Third Party Administrator. The claim amount is then settled between the TPA or insurance company and the hospital authority.
The Chief Minister Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme (CMCHIS) application process is simple and easy, as mentioned here:
Step 1: First, collect an income certificate from the Revenue authorities or Village Administrative officer.
Step 2: You must carry all the documents to the enrollment centre.
Step 3: Your documents will then get verified by the kiosk operator.
Step 4: Now, all biometric details like fingerprints, eye scans, photographs, etc., will get captured.
Step 5: After verifying all the documents and biometric scanning, the Chief Minister Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme card will get generated.
Make sure that your Aadhaar card is linked to the URN that’s provided at the time of enrolment. In case it’s not linked, follow the steps below:
Step 1: Visit the official website of CMCHIS
Step 2: Select Beneficiary and click on ‘Link Aadhaar to URN’
Step 3: You will be redirected to another page. Enter your URN number.
Step 4: Tick the box with the option to link your Aadhaar card to URN and select ‘Enrol Now’
Step 5: Enter your contact details as given in the Aadhaar card
Step 6: Enter your Aadhaar Card Number to complete the application process
Step 7: Once done, you will receive an OTP on your registered mobile done
Upon entering the OTP, you will get a message that reads “Your Aadhar number registered successfully.’’

Step 1: Visit CMCHIS’s official website and navigate to the designated portal.
Step 2: Enter all the beneficiary’s details along with URN or Ration Card Number.
Step 3: Next, click on ‘Generate e-card’.

You don’t need to download any application form separately for Amma Health Insurance or CMCHIS. Upon successful enrollment, you will be given a smart card, which you can use to avail of the insurance scheme benefits.
