A couple of weeks ago, tech giant Apple unveiled its new line of iPhone series – iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 14 Pro Max and the all-new iPhone 14 Plus. Now, it seems that Apple will manufacture its latest product – the iPhone14 – in India, news agency PTI reported.
The report further stated that the Made in India iPhone14 will start reaching local customers in the next few days. The latest iPhone from Apple’s vault will be sold in both domestic and international markets.
For the unversed, Apple started manufacturing iPhones in India in 2017 with iPhone SE. Since then, the tech giant has been responsible for manufacturing iPhone 11, iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 in India. While iPhone SE and iPhone 12 were assembled at Wistron factory, Bangalore, iPhone 11, iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 were assembled at Foxconn facility in Chennai.
“We’re excited to be manufacturing iPhone 14 in India. The new iPhone 14 lineup introduces groundbreaking new technologies and important safety capabilities”, Apple officials said in a statement to PTI.
The iPhone 14 will be shipped from Foxconn’s Sriperumbudur facility that’s located on the outskirts of Chennai. Foxconn is a US-based company that’s regarded as one of the world’s largest electronics manufacturers and iPhone assemblers.
The Made-in-India Apple iPhone 14 initiative adds up to the many expansions the tech giant has in the pipeline. Apple has already started its Development Accelerator and APP Design programmes in Bangalore.
A recent report by JP Morgan on ‘Apple Supply Chain relocation’ revealed that the tech giant is likely to scale iPhone production from 5% in India in 2022 to 25% by 2025 Apple The US company has hit a sweet spot in the Indian market, almost doubling its revenue in the quarter ended June 2022.
With the iPhone 14 series getting assembled in India, Apple’s iPhone production in India could scale up from 7 million iPhones in 2021 to 12 million iPhones in 2022.
