There are mainly 4 types of PAN cards. This includes:
After receiving your PAN, you do not need to worry about its validity. Unlike address proof, you do not need to update your PAN card after a certain period or change of address.
A PAN card has a validity for a lifetime. This means, you do not need to renew your PAN card status every quarter or year. However, if your signature or date of birth needs to be updated, you may need to get your PAN card reissued.
Just like there are multiple ways and modes to apply for a PAN card, there are also a number of ways to check the status of a PAN card application. You can choose a mode that suits you best. Keep your acknowledgement number, phone number, and email ID handy. It may make the process easier. However, you can also check your PAN card status even without an acknowledgement number or other documents. You can simply use your name and date of birth.
But, before we end, here’s something interesting. Did you know that you could get an instant cash loan of up to ₹20 Lakh with just your PAN card? That too at competitive interest rates, starting at 9.9% p.a? Well, to find out more about the loan, download the Navi App today. As per the norms, you can track your PAN card application status online after 24 hours of submitting your application. After visiting the UTIITSL and NSDL websites, individuals need to provide certain data to obtain such information within a few minutes.
In case you receive a message mentioning that your PAN application has gotten deleted, cross-check by checking your PAN card status online. You can use either the UTIITSL or NSDL website to check that. If you are not able to check any such information, it is better to get in touch with the officials of that particular department.
As per the rules of Income Tax Act, India, every citizen must possess a single PAN card. Keeping more than one PAN card will be considered illegal. Therefore, even if you receive multiple PAN cards, make sure to hand them over to the Income Tax Department.
If you have just applied for a PAN card and while checking its status, you can see ‘Application is inward’, it means that the department has received your PAN application. However, it is still under process, and you will have to wait for a significant amount of time to receive the document.
You can definitely use the printout of your PAN card application status for opening your savings bank account. Alternatively, you can also use the acknowledgement slip copy for the same. In this regard, you must know that to open a bank account, a PAN card is not mandatory. You can use other identity documents such as your Aadhaar card or fill out Form 60 for this purpose.
To track the PAN card delivery status, consider following the steps below:
Step 1: Visit the official website of UTIITSL.
Step 2: Enter PAN or application coupon number.
Step 3: Enter the date of birth or incorporation or agreement and type the CAPTCHA code displayed on screen.
Step 4: Click ‘Submit’ and check the PAN card delivery status on your screen.
This could mean that information provided by you was insufficient. It is highly recommended that you get in touch with the NSDL officials to get a better sense.
If your PAN card has been deactivated, you need to write a letter to the jurisdictional Assessing Officer (AO). Along with the letter, you will also have to send an indemnity bond, records of your I-T returns for the last three years, and a copy of the blocked PAN.
This could happen if your PAN card application is yet to reach the Protean or UTIITSL team due to unforeseen circumstances. If the agent you submitted it with delays the submission of your application, you may also see this status. In such a case, we recommend that you get in touch with the I-T department directly. You could try calling Protean at (+91)2027218080 or the Aaykar Sampark Kendra (ASK) at 18001801961/1961.
