Mr. Sharma has applied for an Aadhaar card and wishes to link it to his bank account for LPG subsidy. However, he has not received his Aadhaar yet. After a status enquiry, details reveal that it has already been dispatched.
Latest Update
UIDAI recently announced that people, whose Aadhaar cards were issued more than 10 years ago, can update their demographic details on myAadhaar portal for FREE from 15th March, 2023 to 30th June, 2023.
In such a scenario, Mr Sharma can raise an “Aadhaar card not received” query and seek help from the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) portal or dial Government helpline numbers.
The following section explains in detail what Mr Sharma and other citizens can do to resolve this issue.
Before lodging a complaint, individuals must know that it might take up to 3 months for the card to reach the right person. However, in case of further delay, they can consider contacting government officials or seeking help via the UIDAI portal in the following ways:
After individuals apply for an Aadhaar card, they can check their Aadhaar status online from the UIDAI website. Once they ensure that their Aadhaar has been approved and generated, they can obtain a UID number online or through an SMS facility.
Generation of UID number and Aadhaar copy can be done in two ways.
In case individuals do not receive the physical copy of their Aadhaar card, they can obtain its electronic copy in the following ways:
Similarly, one can generate an enrolment ID by following the aforementioned steps.
On receiving the Aadhaar number, one can link it to the bank accounts and get benefits from several government schemes and programmes.
Considering the above queries, one might generate an electronic copy of Aadhaar from UIDAI’s website. An e-Aadhaar serves the purpose of an original Aadhaar card; that is, it may be used as an identity and address proof. Financial institutions also accept these copies and offer subsidies and benefits related to government schemes.
Ans: In case you do not receive an OTP while downloading an electronic copy of Aadhaar, you can consider visiting the UIDAI website and check whether your phone number is registered with UIDAI. If the number is not linked to your Aadhaar, you need to visit a permanent enrolment centre.
Ans: In case you do not receive the Aadhaar card within 3 months of enrolment, you can visit the India Post’s website, enter the tracking number and view the delivery status. Alternatively, you can check the Aadhaar status from UIDAI’s official website.
Ans: After updating the name or address in Aadhaar, you can get a physical copy of your card through postal services. This means that you will receive your Aadhaar at your updated address. In case of delay, you can opt for a less time consuming and convenient procedure of obtaining Aadhaar by downloading an e-Aadhaar from UIDAI’s official website.
Ans: Yes, you can download an e-Aadhaar using a virtual ID. However, at first, you need to generate this virtual ID from the official website of UIDAI. Note that individuals who have registered their mobile numbers with Aadhaar can also opt for this service.
Ans: To check the Aadhaar status, one needs to note the enrolment ID. This is a 28-digit code consisting of a 14-digit enrolment number and a 14-digit date and time stamp. Here are the steps to follow once you know the enrolment ID:
1. Visit UIDAI’s official website
2. Go to “My Aadhaar” and select “Check Aadhaar Status”
3. Click on “Check Enrolment & Update Status”
4. Enter enrolment ID and security code to view the status
