Frequently asked questions

The deductible is the amount of money you pay as the policyholder before making an insurance claim. The insurance company will pay for your claim to you or the hospital directly only after the payment of the deductible. It is important to know that the insurance company covers the claim only if it stands higher than the deductible.
A cancer cover policy falls under the individual plan construct. At Navi, the maximum number of adults under an individual plan is two. In a family plan, however, you can cover yourself, your spouse, your parents/in-laws and your dependent children until they are 18 years of age. If more than one individual is suffering or your family has a history of cancer, a family plan would be better suited than an individual one.
There are different terms and conditions, exclusive premiums, and discounts offered by insurance companies for pre-existing medical conditions besides the one you are insured for. Thus, you should always check with the company for the same before signing up for the insurance.
Navi’s cancer policy allows the insurance term to be of 20 years, given that the maturity age of the patient is more than 75 years. You can issue a policy for a patient falling in the age bracket of 18 to 65. However, if you insure someone who is 65 years old, the patient will only be able to avail of 10 of the 20 years of your policy.
The copay clause demands you pay some of the expenses incurred during medical treatment. If your policy comes with a copay clause of ₹20,000 and the total amount incurred is ₹30,000, the insurance company will only pay ₹10,000, while you will have to pay the remaining ₹20,000. But at Navi, we do not have any copay clause, which means that Navi will cover the entirety of the procedure for you.
A balance sum is the amount of money left after a claim has been made, ranging from the initial sum amount to zero. For example, if your base sum was ₹30,000 and a claim was made of ₹25,000, the balance sum would be ₹5,000. There is no limit on the maximum number of claims in a single policy year. But that is only true if you have the balance sum covered by insurance.
