Anil Kumar Misra is a former Executive Director of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), where he oversaw the supervision of both banking and non-banking financial institutions. With over 35 years of experience as a central banker, he has worked across multiple areas, including currency management, foreign exchange, payment systems, financial inclusion, and risk monitoring. He superannuated in July 2018 after a distinguished career that began in 1982. From 2015 to 2023, he held directorship positions on the boards of prominent financial institutions, such as Punjab National Bank, Union Bank of India, Jammu & Kashmir Bank, and the Export Credit Guarantee Corporation of India. He also served on the Board of Supervision of NABARD. His international roles include serving as a Financial Sector Stability Advisor with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and currently working as an External Consultant for the World Bank. In addition, he spent over four years as a member of the Secretariat at the Financial Stability Board (FSB) in Basel, Switzerland, where he contributed to global financial-sector policy reforms and the FSB’s International Cooperation and Information Exchange Initiative. He holds Master’s degrees in Public Administration from Harvard University and in Business Management from Banaras Hindu University.
