11 Facts You Didn’t Know About the Man Behind Chaptgpt: Sam Altman

Did you know that Altman is a computer science dropout from Stanford University?

Or that he has been a vegetarian since childhood?

In 2005, aged only 19, he co-founded and became CEO of Loopt, a location-based social networking mobile application and raised $30 million.

Later, Altman joined Y-Combinator (YC) and swiftly rose to the position of president. In 2015, during his time at YC, he was named by Forbes as the top investor under 30.

Sam Altman is an alarmist. In fact, the only reason why he collaborated with Elon Musk to develop OpenAI in 2015 was to prevent artificial intelligence (AI) from wiping out the human race.

Altman contributed to Project Covalence, which aided researchers in launching clinical trials in collaboration with TrialSpark during the Covid-19 pandemic.

This maverick entrepreneur is also a blogger and has written about startup culture, technology, and the future of humanity on his personal website.

He was the CEO of Reddit for eight days in 2014.

Altman also co-founded Worldcoin in 2020 with the aim to democratise cryptocurrencies.

Sam is a firm believer in the apocalypse and is always prepared. In one of his interviews, he says “I try not to think about it too much. But I have guns, gold, potassium iodide, antibiotics, batteries, water, gas masks from the Israeli Defense Force, and a big patch of land in Big Sur I can fly to.”
