Now Claim Compensation up to 1.5 Lakh  if Your Flight is  Delayed or Cancelled?

 As per Civil Aviation rules, travellers who face damage, delay/ baggage loss because of airport authorities can claim compensation up to Rs.1.5 Lakh. You can also raise a complaint against the airlines if they deny/refuse to compensate the loss

If your boarding is denied due to an overbooked flight, the airline is not liable to pay compensation if it arranges an alternate flight scheduled to depart within an hour of your original flight's departure Otherwise, the flyer has to be compensated.

If your flight is delayed by 24 hours, you are entitled to free hotels and meals sponsored by the airlines. If you wait for more than 3 hours, your airline is obligated to provide you with a free meal and refreshments at the airport.

If you have not been informed at least three hours in advance about the cancellation of your flight, the airline is liable to provide you with compensation. The airline has to inform you about the cancellation of your flight at least two weeks before the scheduled time of departure.

In case of cancellation, the airline is bound to provide you with alternate travel opportunities at no extra cost. You can also claim a refund if you are not willing to travel at all.

If you missed a connecting flight booked on the same ticket number, the airline must provide you with another flight ticket or give you compensation and a full refund.

According to the DGCA website, if you pay by cash, the airline has to refund the money immediately. If you have paid by credit card, the money has to be refunded within 7 days.
