Chhat Rituals

Rituals are for 4 days that include: Bathing in the Holy Ganga Fasting and abstaining from drinking water (Nirjal Vrata) Standing in the water, praying and offering ‘arghya’ to the rising and setting sun Some devotees also perform a prostration march to the riverbank 

Chhath Significance

Sun God and Chhathi Mata are worshipped for the bounties of life and to protect children from diseases, illnesses, problems, and provide good health and long life

Who Can Perform Chhath Puja?

Usually, women are the main worshippers But, many men perform the puja as well In some communities, once a woman or man starts performing Chhath puja, they are duty-bound to continue the tradition through the coming generations
